Lip Balm & Lip Gloss Recipes
Always consult your physician if you have high blood pressure, are pregnant
or have other medical concerns before using essential oils or herbs.
HONEY ALA LIP CREME
45 grams Sweet Almond Oil
15 grams Cocoa Butter
10 grams Coconut Oil
10 grams lanolin
20 grams Beeswax
15 grams honey
Weigh all ingredients. Melt in a double boiler or microwave, whichever you prefer, until all items are melted. Add the honey after all other ingredients are liquified. You can also add food-grade essential oil such as sweet orange, spearmint, lime, etc. This recipe fills approximately 14 lip balm pots.
The recipe creates a fairly glossy lip cream. If you prefer a waxier base, decrease the almond oil by 7-8 grams and replace it with beeswax.
LEMON LIP BALM
1 tablespoon Non-Petroleum Jelly
1/2 teaspoon Beeswax, grated
3 drops Lemon-Flavored Oil
In a very small pot, heat the non-petroleum jelly and add the beeswax, stirring until melted. Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon oil. Pour the mixture into a small screw-top jar or metal tin.
CASTOR OIL LIP BALM
3 ounces Castor Oil
1.5 ounces Cocoa Butter
1.5 ounces Beeswax
Melt in microwave. Add oil, stir. Pour into containers.
